Technical Resources: one video projector, one computer with a Windows-readable USB flash drive and CD-Rom drive. Software: PowerPoint 2007, Adobe Acrobat. Presentations will be visualized with a Windows Vista platform.
To avoid delays, speakers should bring their presentations on a Windows-readable USB flash drive or CD-Rom drive.
Technical assistance will be available according to the following schedule:
• Saturday - Sept 19th, from 19.00 to 20.00, for presentations scheduled on Sunday, Sept. 20th
• Sunday - Sept 20th, from 16.30 to 17.30, for presentations scheduled on Monday, Sept. 21st
• Monday - Sept. 21st, from 17.30 to 18.30, for presentations scheduled on Tuesday, Sept. 22nd
• Tuesday - Sept. 22nd, from 17.30 to 18.30, for presentations scheduled on Wednesday, Sept. 23rd
• Wednesday - Sept. 23rd, from 17.30 to 18.30, for presentations scheduled on Thursday, Sept. 24th.
Speakers having time schedule problems are kindly invited to send their files or to contact the technical assistance within September 7th: spiludu@unica.it.
Speakers can use their own computers, but should consider that the additional setup cuts into presentation time. If you are using your own laptop, you must have a VGA 15 pin HD female VGA output.
Note: some mini laptop computers have a special interface cable that attaches to their video output to hook up to external monitors or data/video projectors. If this cable is not with the laptop computer being used, there is no way to connect it to the session room data/video projector.
Preparing PowerPoint Presentations
When creating your presentation, use Arial, Verdana, Helvetica, Comic Sans, Trebuchet MS fonts. An unusual font may not translate to the computer used for presenting.
For tables, note that PowerPoint's default settings allow only nine rows and columns, set at 32-point type.
For including special symbols in your PowerPoint presentation, insert them as, Images, Object of PowerPoint Equation Editor, and Symbols (only if present in the set [“Normal Text”] of the type’s table).
Use only files with .jpeg or .png compression. Do not use .pict files; use only the Insert menù to load images. Don’t do Drag and Drop. Do not insert images modified with PowerPoint tools: use an external graphic editor for inserting modified images. In order to include audio and video elements use only files with .mp3 or .mpeg/.avi compression.
Test your completed presentation on a separate PC-compatible computer with Windows Vista and Microsoft Power Point 2007 to ensure that fonts are standard. Verify that components, such as movies, have been included rather than merely linked.
When your presentation needs objects and elements different from the above list, kindly contact the Local Organizing Committee, spiludu@unica.it, for technical support.
