European Symposium for

Insect Taste and Olfaction


Welcome to ESITO XII–2011 in Saint-Petersburg, Russia!


The twelfth ESITO will be held from 19-25 September 2011 at the Repinskaya Hotel, Repino, Saint-Petersburg, Russia. Participants will arrive on Monday 19th, and the scientific program will start on Tuesday 20th after breakfast. The meeting will continue until the afternoon of the 24th with a half-day break on Thursday 22nd for social activities (visit to Repin’s house website http://www.encspb.ru/en/article.php?kod=2804000659 ) and boat excursion on Sunday, 25th. Up-to-date information will be posted at this website.


Urgent information!


Participants and family members, who plan to join a boat trip, please, contact Marianna Zhukovskaya (esito@iephb.ru or mzhukovskaya@yahoo.com). Boat excursion will take place on September 25, around lunchtime and will last about 2 hours. The price is about 60 EU, including food.

In order to obtain visa support documents, participants who did not send me their passport copies before May 30th shoud apply for tourist visas by themself.
Please, before your departure, don't forget to obtain medical insuranse.

Accommodation will be in the Repinskaya hotel. The hotel is located in Repino, a seaside resort in 40 km distance from Saint-Petersburg. Hotel is prebooked for the time of the meeting. If you wish to come earlier or stay later, please, let me know in advance.

As in the past, we will try to avoid charging a registration fee. However, this depends on the level of financial support, and attendants may be asked to make a contribution. Please print out and fill in the pre-registration form (linked below) and send it by e-mail ("Marianna Zhukovskaya" mzhukovskaya@yahoo.com). The most of participants will need visas to enter Russia. Please, check you local Embassy/Consulate for the Russian visa requirements well in advance (at least 6 month). DEADLINE: January 31, 2011.

The following topics for the meeting have been suggested by general consensus. These are:

Soon we shall outline the preliminary program, which will be designed according to previous successful formats. Sessions with oral presentations will be held in the morning and late afternoon, leaving time for discussions and other activities. Poster sessions will be arranged around topics, and poster presenters will have the opportunity of giving a 5-minute data-blitz PowerPoint-assisted talk summarizing their poster, with 3-5 minutes for a brief question-and-answers session.

As in past meetings, presenters of talks and posters will be asked to provide an abstract. These will be published on-line and a printed version of the proceeding abstracts will be prepared for the meeting.
